About Me

I enjoy simple things: solitude, cheap sheet cake, and sunlight. I also believe that white is, in fact, a color. Bring me fresh flowers and we can be friends.

I Want Wednesday - I got it!

Go ahead and try to tell me I'm not a go-getter. Just one week ago I compiled a list of things I wanted to accomplish in my apartment before the end of summer.  Less than one week later,  I can cross one item off the list!

The CB2 peekaboo coffee table. I was previously using a large trunk as a coffee table, and although it served its purpose for the past two years (and provided TONS of storage), I was ready for a change.  The trunk was too big and too dark, and living in a studio apartment, I need to keep everything light and airy.

I started scouring Craig's List and quickly found the CB2 peekaboo table for $100!! (It retails for $279 + shipping).  I snagged that thing up real quick and took it home in a cab without looking back.

It totally opened up the space and I am smitten.  Now I just need to work on styling it.

Happy Hump Day!

I Want Wednesday (on a Thursday)

Lately I've been getting back into decorating my apartment.  It's been left untouched for a few months and I haven't made much advancement design-wise.  I hope to accomplish a few things before the end of summer, so I've made myself a mental note to keep my eyes open for the perfect pieces.

To Do:
1. Customized closet
4. Coffee table replacement

I currently have an oversized trunk serving as my coffee table - which actually works with my current decor while adding a lot of storage for my extra comforters and blankets, but quite frankly - I'm over it.  It is too big for the space and the dark brown doesn't really get me the light and airy look I am into.  I'm ready for something more mature and I think I've come across the perfect piece. The clear acrylic peekaboo coffee table from CB2.  It serves a purpose without taking up visual space - perfect for studio living!

Summer Fridays

... is a practice my company does not participate in, but I can't help feeling giddy from the minute I wake up in anticipation of the weekend on any given summer Friday!  I'll be inhaling bloody marys in the morning, watching the sun set over the bay with a glass of wine in the evening with two of my favorite babes (one of them is a soon to be Mrs!!), and topping it off with Father's Day lunch.

I think some lemonade cocktails will fit in between the bloodies and the wine:

and I can think of a 9th way to pimp my lemonade.. can you guess?!

Happy Summer Friday!

Mexican Moments

Better late than never.
Family vacation 2012 - it never fails to disappoint.

It was a wet and rainy week but somehow swimming in the rain brings out the 6 year old in everybody.  Dozens of wrinkled fingertips and mouthfuls of guacamole among the tropical raindrops; it was quite wonderful.

The poncho picture is my favorite - it's my family in a nutshell.

Looking back, I realized I started this blog around the time that we started this annual tradition - in Breckenridge, Colorado two years ago.  You can check out last years trip to the south of France here, here , here, here, and here.

Room of the Day

I have been traveling for the last couple of weeks, and although it has been more than enjoyable, I am totally ready for a whole lot of nothing in my own apartment.  Comfort is one of my favorite guilty pleasures - whether it comes from an article of clothing, a mug of coffee, good company, or my lavishly plush bed.  Yesterday was the first day back into my regular, boring routine (work, gym, errands, dinner, clean, blog) and it couldn't have felt more luxurious.

There's something about curling up in your kitchen with a comfy sweater and dirty hair that never gets old.  My favorite sweater is not as cute and my kitchen doesn't have nearly as great of a view as above, but hey, throw your rosy colored glasses on.

Weekend In Pictures

A west coast weekend where we attended yet another graduation celebration for the brain trust (babe's a genius), I caught up with a long lost friend (funny how you don't realize how much you miss someone until they're standing in front of you!), and brunched on the beach in Santa Monica (I may or may not have have ordered banana nutella french toast)

Should the opportunity arise, I wouldn't think twice about packing my bags and moving out to LA.
(Of course not for another three years, Nederbug)
